Sarah Petherick

Sarah Petherick tableware was created by Sarah Petherick in 2002.  Our founder talks about how it all began.

'Design and craftsmanship have always been a part of my life, and post a short career in Interior Design, I travelled extensively.  I found myself mesmerised by talented craftspeople around the world, particularly in India and ended up working with friends who were designing and manufacturing in Vietnam. A year later, in 2002, Sarah Petherick was launched.

I fell in love with cutlery because it has 100s of day to day uses. It’s lovely to think somebody somewhere is finding great enjoyment in simple everyday pleasures through the use of my products and that these pieces may be passed down through families to enjoy a legacy all of their own.

I have been lucky enough to design and produce work for some industry greats including The Conran Shop, Urban Outfitters, Studio Myerscough, Asprey & Garrard and Graham & Greene as well as David Mellor, Harrods, Liberty and the V&A.  I take great pride in the close working relationships I have with all my stockists.

I design every piece in my Somerset studio and collaborate with specialist craftsmen and women in a small village near Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam to produce modern classic horn kitchen utensils and cutlery.

Inspired by my mothers' collection of antique silver spoons and drawn to the detailing of their handles, I launched a range of horn cutlery with British hallmarked silver, which went on to win an award for 'Outstanding Design,' presented by the British Interior Design Association at Pulse, in May 2003.'
